In this episode we’re joined by our lovely guest Dacy Gillespie, Personal Stylist and Owner of Mindful Closet. Dacy share with us so many wonderful thoughts and tips for how to dress confidently at any body size and break free from any fashion “rules” that limit your unique expression.
A question that I’m LOVING from Dacy in this episode is, “If you didn’t have limiting beliefs about what you could wear, what would you WANT to wear?” By squashing societies standards and rules for fashion and our bodies – we can truly find our own personal style, express ourselves freely and be our truest selves, no matter our body’s size.
Dacy also discusses the importance of having clothes that fit one’s current body size and shape – your here-and-now body. Many people struggle with letting go of old clothes that no longer fit, but it’s important to do so for the sake of comfort and self-care. Wearing ill-fitting clothes can cause discomfort and stress, which is why buying clothes that fit is an act of body respect. Bodies naturally change over time, and it’s important to embrace and accept these changes instead of feeling like a failure for not fitting into the same clothes as before. The societal pressure to conform to body ideals is strong, but prioritizing your own comfort and body resepct should come first!
